Labor Secretary Alex Acosta has resigned on Friday due to his involvement in the plea deal he gave Jeffrey Epstein in 2008.
Acosta has had demands of his resignation from many people due to his far to light handed plea deal he gave to Jeffrey Epstein. However, Acosta claimed he didn’t believe he was going to win the case because of Epstein’s superstar team of attorneys.
Time magazine wrote about Epstein’s plea deal from Acosta in 2008, “By avoiding federal prosecution, Epstein was sentenced to just 18 months in prison after he pled guilty on two counts of soliciting prostitution from a minor. Of that sentence, Epstein served only 13 months and was allowed to spend six days a week at an office for 12 hours a day under a work-release privilege. He was also required to register as a sex offender and reach financial settlements with the dozens of victims who came forward in the case.”
President Trump announced he did not have any involvement of Acosta resigning and he came to that decision on his own. Trump told ABC, “He’s doing this not for himself, he’s doing this for the administration.”
