Bernie Sanders held a town hall in Iowa on Saturday to promote his 2020 campaign. During the town hall Bernie Sanders called for giving convicted felons that are currently behind bars the right to vote.
The Des Moines Register reported Bernie Sanders statements made at the town hall.
Bernie Sanders stated, “I think that is absolutely the direction we should go.”
“While most states disenfranchise felons, Sanders said the convicted still have a right to participate in elections,” the Register reported.
Sanders continued, “In my state, what we do is separate. You’re paying a price, you committed a crime, you’re in jail. That’s bad.”
Sanders concluded, “But you’re still living in American society and you have a right to vote. I believe in that, yes, I do.”
Bernie Sanders state of Vermont is one of two states that allow felons behind bars to vote.
This is another example of Democrats attempting to gather votes from parts of society that shouldn’t be voting. Similar to their desire to lower the voting age to 16 or allowing illegals to vote.
