The Governor of California decided to stop construction for their Green high speed rails. This was supposed to help out the environment by getting people to drive their cars less and take a cleaner train. But, like everything Democrats propose it was far too expensive and ineffective to continue the project. President Trump responded to this by demanding the Federal Government money back that was used for the high speed rail.
Trump tweeted, “California has been forced to cancel the massive bullet train project after having spent and wasted many billions of dollars. They owe the Federal Government three and a half billion dollars. We want that money back now. Whole project is a ‘green’ disaster!”
Governor Newsom responded, “Fake news. We’re building high-speed rail, connecting the Central Valley and beyond. This is [California’s] money, allocated by Congress for this project. We’re not giving it back. The train is leaving the station — better get on board! (Also, desperately searching for some wall $$??)”
However, Newsom stated in his State of the Union address a contradicting statement, “Let’s level about the high-speed rail. Let’s be real, the current project as planned would cost too much and, respectfully, take too long. Right now, there simply isn’t a path to get from Sacramento to San Diego, let alone from San Francisco to L.A. I wish there were.”
