The “Empire” star Jussie Smollett claimed he was walking around downtown Chicago where he was physically assaulted by two racist white Trump supporters. Smollett claimed the two men beat him, put a noose around his neck, and poured bleach on him. Apparently they called Smollett racist and homophobic slurs, while claiming this is MAGA country.
However, it seems with evidence coming out that does not support Smollett’s claims, which has drawn suspicion from the public. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson stated he will hold Jussie Smollett accountable if this is a hoax story that Smollett created.
Fox-32 Chicago reporter Rafer Weigel tweeted, “#ChicagoPolice Supt Eddie Johnson says #JussieSmollett is still being treated as the victim in this case but if the investigation does reveal he made a false report he will be held accountable.”
Jussie Smollett claimed he was on the phone with his manager at the time of the attack, which his manager claimed happened as well, which lead police to ask for Smollett to turn over his phone so they could verify if this is true. Smollett refused to turn over his phone in an attempt to help the investigation, which leads many to believe that the story is a hoax.
Chicago has one of the best video surveillance systems in the Country and were able to follow Smollett for the entire time of the alleged time of the attack, except for 60 seconds. Outside of the 60 seconds that Smollett was not on video shows he was never assaulted. It is unlikely that he could have been assaulted in the small window of 60 seconds as well.
The rope that was around Smollett’s neck was proven to be freshly opened from a package and now law enforcement will be asking for video of every store near by that sells that type of rope.
There were two men on video that were found near the scene of the alleged assault, but it is now believed they were homeless men walking around trying to keep warm in the -59 degree night in Chicago.
Other noteworthy points-
- Chicago is a deep blue city, which I can attest to from living near Chicago for 30 years. The chances of finding Trump supporters in Chicago is slim to none. The few Trump supporters in Chicago are far too afraid to let it be openly known.
- Empire is not a show MAGA supporters would be watching and it would be unlikely to know who Jussie Smollett is, let alone be able to spot him at 2 A.M.
- The night of the alleged assault Chicago was -59 degrees at 2 A.M. There were not many people willing to be outside in that temperature.
