On Thursday afternoon the President refused to sign any bill that did not include funding for the Southern border wall. Instantly Republicans and Democrats in the House ran back with tail between their legs and negotiated and voted on a new bill with funding for the wall.
Not only did The House of Representative give funding for Trump’s border wall, but they gave him $5.7 Billion for the wall. That is $700 million more than President Trump requested for him to sign the bill. The Bill passed with a 217-185 vote.
President Trump celebrated his victory with the House with a statement, “Thank you to our GREAT Republican Members of Congress for your VOTE to fund Border Security and the Wall.”
However, the funding has not been officially passed and still needs to be voted on in the Senate. Unfortunately, in order to have the bill be passed by the Senate President Trump needs 60 votes and that seems unlikely. The Senate will be voting on the Bill Friday to determine if it passes on to the President.
Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer stated the Bill will not pass the Senate,
“Everyone knows it can’t pass the Senate. It’s a cynical attempt to just hurt innocent people and do just what President Trump wants even though they probably know it’s bad for the country.”
