The woman who climbed the Statue of Liberty on the 4th of July in protest of children being detained at the border was convicted on Monday. Therese Okoumou is an the Democrat Republic of Congo who has lived in New York for the last decade.
Judge Gabriel Gorenstein convicted 44-year-old Therese Okoumou of misdemeanor charges. Okoumou could face up to 18 months in prison for her protest.
