President Trump has decided he will put pressure on Congress to act on building a wall. The problem is Democrats will be taking control of the House majority this coming year. However, Trump announced he will come up with a backup plan if Democrats refuse to fund the border wall.
According to the Washington Post, Trump stated, “We need Democrat votes to have a wall. Now, if we don’t get it, will I get it done another way? I might get it done another way. There are other potential ways that I can do it. You saw what we did with the military, just coming in with the barbed wire and the fencing, and various other things.”
President Trump sent the military down to the southern border, and the built a strong barbed wire fencing border. It is possible President Trump could use the military and the military funding to build the wall if need be.
President Trump has announced he will shut down the Government if Congress does not pass a border wall with full funding. The Department of Homeland Security and many agencies are set to expire on funding for December 7th and will likely see a shut down starting on that date.
