Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) revealed the Democrats plan on keeping the Supreme Court Justice seat open until the year 2020.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, Hirono said if Democrats win the Senate in 2018 mid-terms they will hold the Supreme Court Seat vacant until 2020.
“I think we’ve had those kinds of vacancies before, and we certainly had over a one-year vacancy with Merrick Garland,” Hirono said. “So the world does not come to an end because we don’t fill all of the nominees.”
However, if Democrats do somehow win the Senate which is unlikely this would be a hard move to sell to the public. Republican voters would be outraged enough to turn out and vote in the masses.
