Conservatives have been begging for a huge cuts to wasteful government agencies. There is no bigger of a waste than the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA only sole purpose is to be a strong arm for the Democrat party by targeting energy industries which typically donate to the Republican party. When ever the EPA does get involved in setting environmental regulations it typically makes things worse, for example the recent California fire.
However, President Trump has made it his mission to eliminate this over bloated useless agency. Since Trump has taken office 1,600 Employees have left the EPA and only 400 people have been hired to the EPA in the year and a half of Trump presidency. That means President Trump has cut 1,200 useless EPA jobs and saving tax payers money.
According to the Washington Post, Departing employees included “at least 260 scientists, 185 ‘environmental protection specialists’ and 106 engineers.” Washington post continued claiming the EPA is down 8% in employment.
“With nearly half of our employees eligible to retire in the next five years, my priority is recruiting and maintaining the right staff, the right people for our mission, rather than total full-time employees,” EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler said in a statement according to the Washington Post.
The Washington post also reported at it’s peak the EPA had 18,000 employees and today we are down to 13,758. Many of those who left were bought out of their contracts, and of those remaining 25% are eligible for retirement. Odds are the Trump administration will not replace many of the employees when they retire and cut the EPA useless spending.
