Stockton a city in California is going to be the first ever in the United States to have a “Universal Basic Income” (UBI). Stockton was a bankrupt city since 2012 and one of the worst economies in America. Even though they are only miles away from Silicon Valley.
The mayor of Stockton is 27-year-old Michael Tubbs, who clearly does not have enough life experience to be a mayor. I say this with confidence because this policy has failed worldwide everywhere. “We’ve overspent on things like arenas and marinas and things of that sort to try to lure in tourism and dollars that way,” Tubbs said, according to Fox News explaining how they got into debt.
The policy will start off with 100 citizens receiving $500 a month for 18 months. This will cost the city that is currently bankrupt $900,000 in tax payer money. However, imagine how much it will cost when they give it to every citizen, which is the goal after 18 months. There are 300,000 citizens in Stockton, and if each are given $500 a month that would cost the city 18 Billion Dollars a year.
The City of Stockton is going to be unrepairable after the damage this incompetent mayor creates after he enacts the policy. When will society, learn whenever social welfare programs are proposed it makes matters worse.
